Every piece published by Euro News Agency is checked before it goes live. This page sets out how that verification works, so readers, sources and partners know what standard our work is held to.
What we verify
- Names, titles, roles and the correct spelling of people and organisations.
- Places, dates, distances, prices and any figure presented as fact.
- Quotations, checked against recordings or contemporaneous notes.
- Historical, cultural and geopolitical context, checked against authoritative reference sources.
- Regulatory claims — for example civil aviation rules governing drone operation — checked against the relevant national authority.
Our source hierarchy
We prioritise first-hand reporting and primary sources: official records, direct observation in the field, and named interviews conducted by our own team. Where primary sourcing is not possible, we use recognised institutional and academic sources, identified in the text.
A single uncorroborated source is not sufficient for a contested factual claim. Aggregator sites, unattributed social media posts and AI-generated summaries are never treated as sources.
Visual verification
Photographs and footage published as documentary record are our own or licensed from an identified source. We confirm the date and location of capture. Archive material is labelled with its date. Images are never presented as depicting a place, event or period other than the one in which they were taken.
Use of AI tools
AI tools may assist with transcription, translation and research triage. Nothing produced by an AI tool is published as fact without independent human verification against a primary source, and editorial responsibility for every published claim is human.
Who checks
Verification is carried out under the responsibility of the Editorial Director, Bourbiza Mohamed, a working journalist since 1998 who has reported from more than 107 countries. Where a subject requires specialist knowledge, we consult an appropriate expert before publication.
When we get it wrong
No verification process is perfect. When an error reaches publication, we handle it under our Corrections Policy. Readers are encouraged to flag anything that looks wrong via the contact page.
